WHY:

There is a long held belief that seafood is good for your brain, your heart and a long life. The science of seafood & health is providing a better understanding of why. However, there are concerns about potential health risks associated with certain types of seafood. This has led to the need for research, education and guidance that “makes sense” of both the seafood health benefits and the risks.

This symposium will provide an update on the growing evidence of the profound health benefits of seafood consumption while emphasizing the need for balanced assessment of health benefits and risks. This is needed to encourage the public to eat more seafood for good health by providing guidance that is based on the best available science that weighs both risks and benefits.
